Drink to thirst with our hydration tips

THE OXFORD HALF IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER, SO NOW YOUR TRAINING IS RAMPING UP! STILL HAVEN’T GOT YOUR TICKET? SECURE YOUR SPOT BY RUNNING FOR CHARITY HERE.

Hydration is an important element of your training programme, as it can lead to increased energy levels, supports healthy body functions and aids absorption of nutrients from food. We all need water, but did you know that HOW you hydrate matters?

At different levels of stress and effort, your muscles require different levels of oxygen and fuel which proper hydration can provide. Virgin Sport has teamed-up with Nuun Hydration to keep runners hydrated at the Oxford Half.

Here are some tips on how to keep your hydration levels high with info on how their (tasty) electrolyte tablets can help.

  • Workouts under 90 minutes require hydration replenishment with electrolyte rich fluids.
  • In workouts over 90 minutes carbohydrates play a key role in your hydration for optimal fluid transfer.
  • During your workout, aim to consume 400-700ml of electrolyte rich fluid per hour.

Water + Nuun = Hydration Bliss

All Nuun products are vegan, gluten-free and low calorie. Their electrolyte tablets contain sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium which aid the absorption of water, helping you stay healthy and hydrated. Fun fact: Nuun stands for Nutrition Uncompromised. Learn more at nuunlife.com.

How to use Nuun

Pop a tablet in 500ml of water, allow it dissolve and you’re good to go! If you prefer, you can prep your Nuun drink ahead of a race or training session. Keeping it in the fridge for several days only tends to affect the flavouring, not the nutrient content or quality.

We will be serving plenty of Nuun hydration products throughout race day, along the route at our aid-stations and you’ll get samples in your goody bags too.
