Additional loop around the Hackney Downs Area: This beautiful loop around the Hackney Downs area is brimming full of local and creative charm. Passing through the heart of Hackney, runners can explore the most authentic and central parts of the borough.

Additional urban route east of London Fields: The urban scenery of east of London Fields is filled with characteristic architecture and local shops. Take in the colourful graffiti artwork as you make your way through the tunnels and railway arches located near the London Fields Station. Along the route is the E5 Bakehouse which is a stripped-back, railway-arch bakery and cafe specializing in sourdough bread and Mediterranean lunches. Yum! Additionally, the London Fields Brewery & Taproom, the first commercial brewery to open in Hackney for over 100 years, would be a lively place to celebrate post Hackney Half!

Additional sections in North Park (QEOP): Take in the scenic atmosphere as you pass all of the cheering fans hanging out in the local restaurants and bars along the Canalside in front of Here East. Enjoy the spring weather as you run through run through North Park as you make your way to the finish line!

What’s so great about the new additions to your 2019 route? Ian Allerton, Hackney Half Race Director shares his excitement:

This year’s Hackney Half route retains all the excitement and buzz of previous years’ races. The new additions to the route will show runners the most unique parts of Hackney including the charming London Fields and Canalside. I can’t wait for runners to pass through the crowds of spectators that will be lining outside all of the restaurants to cheer them on!

Route Entertainment Mile by Mile

Throughout the Hackney Half, there will be live entertainment at every mile mark. There’s no need for headphones! From the raucous, joyful spirit of jazz performed by the Old Jelly Rollers to the energetic and groovy compositions of Brass Bound, this extremely talented and diverse lineup of musicians will keep you motivated and inspired on route.

Approaching the River Lee Navigation at the 11.4 mile mark, you’ll see Mr. Trouble in the DJ truck blasting the sound of the underground. A regular Hackney Half performer and Run Dem Crew member, Mr. Trouble shares why he loves to DJ at Hackney Half:

There is no better feeling than seeing the smile on the runners faces as they get close to the music and suddenly get that little extra boost they need to get to the finish line!

We couldn’t agree more!
